Shared Group Resources

“Although the problems of the world are becoming increasingly complex… the solutions remain embarrassingly simple.”

-Bill Mollison

Shared Group Resources, SGR, and SuGaR  are the same Unincorporated Public Benefit Association, registered and certified by the state of California and the U.S. Treasury Dept which granted exclusive rights of use for the motto “Because Life Is Sweeter When We Share” and the credo “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

Our mission is to create a community-based resource pooling hub and associated infrastructure, creating a network where needs and requests are easily fulfilled by this simple plan to provide a centralized area, or “Hub,” for resource pooling and essential public benefit functions.

A SuGaR Hub and the associated website/mobile app will serve as a streamlining platform which allows people to form into groups to share various services and items within the network of their local community.  With SuGaR taking a collective communal approach, the Hub offers resource pooling, collective buying power necessary for bulk food and building material purchasing, retailing, delivery, distribution, and the underwriting of property ownership for local business owners.

The implementation of the Hub system utilizes the world’s most effective operational methodology, GE’s Six Sigma, with the most evolved system for sustainable design, Permaculture, as an ethical overlay and design process.

Core physical functionalities and requirements of a Hub:

  • Always open 24/7.
  • Bulk food, water systems, and energy systems warehouse store.
  • Materials warehouse/yard.
  • Cafeteria serving nutritious prepared meals. (No one goes hungry policy)
  • Equipment & Tool rentals including E-Transportation
  • Community based pricing throughout; community members pay only an item’s “cost of sale”.  Equipment rental pricing is to be the cost of the run time only.  Tool rentals are to be free to check out and in at will. All others pay the “market” retail price.
  • Open-share work/creative space with performance stage
  • Composting center, plant exchange, spouting center, and seed library.
  • Recycling, up-cycling, repair shop, donation sorting.
  • Logistics; delivery, donation pick-ups and will-call fulfillment.
  • Sustainability Ambassadors, ( SAs):   Driver-consultants that are to be thoroughly trained in permaculture design, energy systems, and efficiencies of building materials in order to service  a different neighborhood zone daily so that the entirety of the community is covered on a weekly basis.  While the sustainability ambassadors are picking up donations and making deliveries they are also; verifying donors’ identities, quantifying their physical dominion,  resources, talents, skills, and expertise that each person might like to share with their community.  SAs identify additional resources that could be donated and suggest sustainable design integrations.
  • Credits are issued for donations.  The SA’s advise on the  amount of credits to issue for the donation.   They make suggestions on how those can be spent to best impact each person’s situation.  This virtual currency is community-based and resource-backed and accepted as payment for all Hub merchandise, services,  prepared food, and at the adjoining for-profit owner occupied  businesses that SGR manages.
  • Community Resiliency Survey,  Administered on-site by the SA’s who notes any active and retired military, carpenters, police, EMT’s, nurses, fire fighters, etc. and additional housing, electric production, water supplies, underground shelters, arms, communication equipment, etc.  All information  will then be indexed and data-based as an emergency management tool.
  • Transformation of the business environment from competitive to co-operative and synergistic by creating ownership and holistic guidelines.  Inherent to any central Hub location facility purchase is the pre-existence of small businesses that have leased spaces on the acquired property.  As SUGAR acquires ownership of a centralized area, businesses previously renting space will be transformed to owner occupied units that interact synergistically with each in agreement with the holistic operational practices.  In this regard SUGAR functions much like a residential Homeowners Association Investor’s have the opportunity for high returns and no risk as private investor funds are secured by the real estate that they purchase.  There is no limit to the amount of funding that can be efficiently utilized for SGR expansion.

Core Virtual functions and requirements of a Hub:

  • SGR will exist as a mobile sharing app and website. What would you like to share?
  • Physical item, service, media, a live stream? With who?  My block. My neighborhood. My Community.
  • Form a custom group. Share to your community hub? Your pick up is schedules.
  • App includes virtual realities video conferencing.
  • Allows needs and requests to go out to your neighborhood, community, state, country, or worldwide.
  • Allows user to share with Hub:  Virtually and physically by scheduling a  pickup.
  • Request physical things from the Hub or others, requested items are   are delivered on the recipients scheduled day of the week.
  • Allows groups to be formed and the communication within the group to be customized   using various interactive technologies as they become available.
  • Groups can be either public or private.  Private groups will eventually need to be      charged for the service as groups that discriminate beyond geographic boundaries are   not working within the realm of the public benefit.
  • Directory of all Open Share items available for use at the Hub.
  • Directory of all merchandise (food and materials)
  • Place delivery orders and will call orders.
  • Place Special Orders for food, water systems, E-Transportation, and Building material items from any of SGR’s vendors/suppliers.
In maturity the SGR system will include Outposts, Labs, and Transfer Nodes, creating an interlocking economical-logistical network.
Labs

Labs are focused Non-profit or public benefit ventures that SGR supports logistically and materially.  For example “ Grandma’s knitting shoppe” ,  or Uncle Ed’s small engine repair.

Transfer Nodes

Locations on the SA’s neighborhood zones that are at the furthest point from the Hub and the closest point to the next communities Hub.  Imagine  flowers on a map with only their petals touching.  It is at those points that freight is exchanged from one Hub to another. This is the mechanism by which materials move from one community to the next economically and efficiently.

Outposts

Outposts are buffers between residential neighborhoods and natural areas such as State Park land etc.  Outposts are initially residences and vacant land that is gifted, granted, or purchased by SGR.  The land is transformed into Eco-Hostels.   Using the Permaculture design process food forests are installed, along with boring rooms and holistic campsites.
